USA Turner Reunion at Put in Bay
- Details

Two names that go together hand in hand, Put-In-Bay and Turner Sport Cars. Turner sport cars have participated in most all of the original road races held on Put-In-Bay island streets and continue to be part of the island's rich motorsport history ever since the inception of the Put-In-Bay road race reunion in 2009.
John Ruth, coordinator of the US Turner Reunions, participated in all the PIB race reunions with his Turner Mk III Sport and decided the islands laid back style coupled with a fanatical sport car following mixed with the unique PIB race reunion events offer the perfect setting and activities for the Turner USA Reunion. In addition to the islands varied attractions which appeal to the entire family, the PIB race reunion is very friendly to both street and race cars, making for a truly dual purpose event, something for everyone to enjoy, from scenic drives, to dining out and tasty island wines and of course the races.
The Turner USA Reunion starts on August 26th, the day prior to the PIB race reunion kickoff - which gives the Turner gang a chance to set-up at the groups HQ Inn and get some seat time around the island lanes on the now traditional Turner Ralley.
There are some 300 remaining Turner sports cars that have been located, this is half the production output from the Turner works. Around 15 of these unique British sport cars will be in attendance on PIB, ranging from the a prototype early steel bodied Turner 803 model to the Turner Mk III Sport model which was the most developed version. Turner Sport cars ltd was located in Wolverhampton England and produced a tube framed fiberglass bodied sport car that filled the market for a cost effective car that could be used on the race circuits and road. Turners raced in the SCCA and FIA events from new, and were able to offer stiff competition to the race fields, being very nimble with remarkable power to weigh and roadholding characteristics. The Turner sport cars pre-dated the Austin Healey Bugeye Spites by several years, and served as a main catalyst for the Sprite being created in the first place.
